The roots of MFA

Students…Teachers… Trees…

In the simplest of terms, these three words offer just a hint of the multi-dimensional programming offered by the Manitoba Forestry Association (MFA).

Education of both students and teachers has always been the prime focus of the MFA, from our earliest beginnings more than 90 years ago. Today more than ever before, the increasing demand on our forests for forest products requires careful management to ensure that forested lands regenerate rapidly, efficiently and that their biodiversity is not only maintained but enhanced. Only by leaving our forests as we find them—or better—will society be able to continue to enjoy and use them for years to come.

Through the use of a time-tested toolbox of programs and services, the MFA provides opportunities for people from all walks of life to learn more about the importance of our forests, and to better understand our natural heritage. Whether you are a student or a teacher, a landowner or an interested citizen, an individual or part of a group, one of the programs below is right for you.

Manitoba Envirothon is a hands-on environmental education competition (sometimes called the “Environmental Olympics”) for high school students.
